Couple in their 80s dead after car versus tractor-trailer crash in Chaves County

CHAVES COUNTY, NM – Two were left dead in a crash that happened on US 380 along Red Bridge Road Wednesday. 

The collision occurred around 4:30 pm, WJTV reported. A 2020 Chrysler Pacifica and a 2017 Freightliner tractor-trailer collided after the driver of the Freightliner tractor-trailer missed his exit. 

The driver of the Freightliner was unharmed. However, the couple from the Chrysler Pacifica succumbed to their injuries and died. They were identified as Billie J. Plunk, 83, and  Arlie Plunk Jr, 89.
