Narrative
PECOS, NM – A 26-year-old man was killed and another person as hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash in Pecos on Saturday. Police say 26-year-old Gene Romero was heading west on SR-50 at about 12:30 a.m. when he lost control of his 2016 Dodge Ramp and crossed into he eastbound lanes, where he collided with another vehicle.
Romero suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The other vehicle’s driver was taken to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
Investigators are working to establish an official cause of the crash. However, they believe impairment was a factor.
