Narrative
LOVINGTON, NM – Three people died, and one person went to the hospital last Friday after two cars collided head-on along a highway in central Lea County.
The collision happened around 6 a.m. on the westbound side of Highway 82, also known as Main Street, in Lovington.
The investigation indicates that an eastbound vehicle veered into the westbound lane of Highway 82 and collided with a westbound vehicle.
Both drivers died in the collision along with a passenger from the wrong-way vehicle. Authorities identified the drivers as Angel Delacruz, 24, and Emigdio Montano, 74.
One other person was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
