Narrative
CARLSBAD, NM – At least one person died on Wednesday when three motorcycles collided with a pickup truck along the highway in Carlsbad.
The incident happened around 6:45 p.m. on US-285 near South Thomason Road, which is southeast of the junction with US-62.
Police haven’t shared many details regarding the accident, so it’s not yet known what might have caused the collision. It’s also unclear how many people sustained injuries in the crash.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending further investigation.
Officials closed US-285 between Thomason to Eglin Road for several hours while crews worked at the scene. All lanes of the highway re-opened around 11 p.m.
