Narrative
TAOS, NM – A Taos woman lost control of her vehicle, crashed, and died last month along a major roadway on the west side of town.
The incident happened on Thursday, January 4th, on Blueberry Hill Road, which runs north and south from US-64 near El Prado to NM-240 in Taos.
Police say the victim’s southbound Nissan sedan overturned and struck a fence after she lost control along a curve in the roadway. The force of the collision threw the driver from her vehicle, and she died after transport to a local hospital.
Authorities identified the victim as 26-year-old Dawn Penso. They say that speed may have been a causative factor in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
