ROSWELL, NM – A 47-year-old woman died, and her daughter sustained critical injuries in a single-vehicle crash along South Main Street in Roswell.
The incident happened Wednesday, around 1:10 p.m., in the area of 4600 South Main Street, which is near the intersection with West Mountain View Road. This is just north of Roswell Air Center.
The investigation indicates that the driver, identified as Maria Christina Chavez, veered off of South Main Street and struck a median and a tree. Chavez died at the scene of the accident.
Medics transported Chavez’ daughter, who was a passenger in the car, to the hospital with severe injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
