ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Emergency teams are reporting multiple fatalities from a crash along the interstate on the western outskirts of Albuquerque Thursday.
The multi-vehicle accident happened around 3 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-40 at mile marker 140, which is just east of the Route 66 Hotel and Casino.
Police haven’t shared specific details, but they say that at least two people died from injuries sustained in the collision. The names of the victims have not yet been released to the public.
Officials closed the eastbound side of I-40 i the area of the crash while crews investigated and worked to clear the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
