BERNALILLO CO., NM – Two people died early Thursday morning when an 18-wheeler crashed along the interstate just west of Albuquerque.
The incident happened sometime around 4 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-40 near mile marker 143. This is east of the Route 66 Travel Center.
The cause of the accident is still unknown. Video footage taken at the scene shows a semi-truck with extensive damage. At this time, there’s no indication that other vehicles were involved.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.
A full investigation is underway.
