Narrative

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Two people died, and three people went to the hospital Sunday in a three-vehicle crash caused by street racing in northeast Albuquerque.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Louisiana Boulevard Northeast and Dellwood Road Northeast, which is just northwest of Sandia High School in the Mossman area.

The investigation indicates that two vehicles were racing along Louisiana Boulevard when they crashed into a third vehicle at the intersection with Dellwood.

The driver of that third vehicle died at the scene of the accident, as did one of the drivers from the first two vehicles. Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims to the public.

Medics transported two 14-year-old children from the third vehicle to the hospital. Additionally, a passenger from one of the racing vehicles also sustained injuries.

Police arrested one of the racing drivers, identified as Andy Doreste-Saumell, on multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, reckless driving, and child abuse.

The investigation is ongoing.
