Man, 39, dead after motorcycle crash on US 54 near Alamogordo

OTERO COUNTY, NM – A motorcyclist’s life was claimed in a crash on US 54 South near Alamogordo Monday, KRQE revealed. 

The collision occurred when the motorcyclist tried to pass a semi-truck. Police speculate the motorcyclist was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. In addition, not wearing a helmet could have also been a contributing factor. 

The man was identified as 39-year-old Brian Steven Oberlander. 

Oberlander succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

No other injuries were reported, and no other vehicles appeared to be impacted.
