NARRATIVE:
SOCORRO CO., NM – Two-people died Tuesday in a wrong-way accident along the highway in west-central Socorro County.
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Highway 60 near mile marker 102, just west of Magdalena. This is about 112 miles southwest of Albuquerque.
Police aren’t yet sure what caused the vehicles to collide head-on, but they say drugs may have been involved.
One person became entrapped and required extrication at the scene. This person went to the hospital via air ambulance with critical injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the two victims.
A full investigation is underway.
